SHOULD I PURPOSEFULLY NOT EAT BEOFRE I EXERCISE BECAUSE I WANT TO LOSE WEIGHT WHILE EXERCISING?

A TYPICAL CLIENT WILL NOT EAT BEFORE THEY GO TO THE GYM TO WORKOUT BECAUSE THEY ARE EXERCISING TO BURN CALORIES.  WHY WOULD YOU THEN WANT TO ADD CALORIES TO YOUR DIET?  WHOULDN’T THISE DEFEAT THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THE WORKOUTS?

THINK AGAIN:  IF YOU CONSUME 100 TO 300 CALORIES BEFORE YOU WORK OUT, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO EXERCISE HARDER, AT HIGHER INTENSITY AND BURN MORE CALORIES THAN IF YOU SCHLEP THROUGH THE SESSION ON FUMES, WITH LITTLE ENTHUSIASM OR ENJOYMENT.  PLUS, YOU WILL NOT BE AS HUNGRY AFTERWARDS AND WILL BE ABLE TO REFRAIN FROM OVERINDULGING.  THE PLAN TO EXERCISE-ON-EMPTY IS HARD TO SUSTAIN; IT’S SIMPLY NOT FUN.

FOOD IS FUEL. AS AN EXERCISER, YOU NEED TO FUEL YOUR BODY APPROPIATELY-INCLUDING PRE-EXERCISE. JUST AS WE PUT GAS IN YOUR CAR BEFORE WE TAKE IT FOR A DRIVE, YOU WANT TO PUT FUEL IN YOUR BODY BEFORE WE EMBARK ON OUR BUSY DAYS.
